Roland Morris questionnaire characteristics
It is a very simple questionnaire called the Roland-Morris
questionnaire after the doctors who first developed it. It reflects
the degree of disability that you are suffering today.
Its original reference is "Roland M, Morris R.
A study of the natural history of back pain: Part I. Spine 1983;8:141-144".
The Spanish version has been adapted transculturally and validated
by the Kovacs Foundation in collaboration with a team of researchers
from various hospitals, the Kovacs Foundation itself and various
primary medical care centers of INSALUD. It is currently awaiting
publication.
Studies have demonstrated that the Roland-Morris
questionnaire is reliable and valid for evaluating the disability
that can be cause by back pain, that is, the limitations on daily
activities that this may imply.
For example, if a person that assessed his disability
as 10 points on the Roland-Morris questionnaire two weeks before
is now at 5 points, it can be reliably deduced that he is less limited
in his daily activities and, consequently, his disability has improved.
If you would like to see how this scale is carried
out, go to the "Evalute
your disability" section.
